Could not resist the temptations of sea sun and sand, Jam had quietly booked his return flight to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah 2 months ago. Formerly known as Jesselton, Kota Kinabalu is the capital city of Sabah state. Some said it is the most beautiful capital city in Malaysia. I will spend 5 days 4 nights in KK and my main itinerary would be snorkeling trips to 2 islands. I will also visit the famous Sunday market on Gaya Street as well as Lok Kawi Wildlife Park and Kota Kinabalu Wetland Centre (formerly known as Kota Kinabalu City Bird Sanctuary) and many others. Of course, no visit to KK is complete without savoring its fresh seafood!
This is actually my second visit to Kota Kinabalu. I was there in mid 2005, which is more than 4 years back! Long before I got my first camera and long before this blog was started! It was truly a memorable moment for me back then. Pictures below were taken using another friend’s camera.

Think of joining me to Kota Kinabalu? Too late, dude as I am already on the plane to KK now! Bon Voyage!

Didnt know former name is Jesselton, older locals always say ‘Api’ and not Jesselton guess it was too mouthful. Was up at the peak in 1995, whoa what a nice feeling standing on top of the highest peak. Missed the white water rafting and snorkeling. Have fun in BKI and please remember it’s a must to go on a seefood diet. Eat what you SEE!

Had eaten lots of seafood
The last time I visited Sabah was back during the time of the SARS outbreak. Tickets on Malaysia Airlines were cheap, with free hotel accommodation thrown in. There was not Airasia yet. We were on our own. It was the Sabah trip that got me started on backpacking.
