I first flied with Malaysian Airlines (MAS) when I was a university student. Back then, I had to travel across South China Sea between Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia every now and then. Air travel is obviously my one and only choice. I still remember how many hours I waited in the local MAS office to get my air ticket done. The MAS office is as crowded as in the market with so many others lining up to book, change, check and confirm their flights. Trust me, that is not a good experience to relive!
Back then, I always hope for a more convenient way to book my flights. Then there comes online air ticket booking at malaysiaairlines.com. Many of us certainly give it a big clap of welcoming as we no longer have to spend hours in the MAS office to get our tickets done. But heck what about those who are not internet savvy?
Malaysia Airlines had recently launched its mobile site where you can easily book, change, check and confirm your flights right from the couch in your living room! Introducing to you flymas.mobi! Now you can book your flights directly from your mobile phones! Why mobile phones? According to a media statistics conducted on mobile cellular per 100 populations in 2002, there is an average of 34.88 people using mobile phone for every 100 Malaysians. And that was well back in 2002! Kudos to MAS to be able to spot this trend!
As the menu shows, you are able to book flight, check your booking and flight status, check in, check the timetable as well as MAS current deals and offers. And you do not have to register to use this MAS mobile site. Best of all is the use of flymas.mobi is free of charge! The only costs you incur are the call charges you made. To book your ticket, first you have to enter flight destination and information. Select your preferred flight and purchase the ticket. You can pay for flights booked with your mobile phone by either credit card or contact 1 300 88 3000 or go to your nearest MAS office. A booking confirmation will then be sent to you via email and SMS. Easy, isn’t it?
Give it a try, dude! I myself plan to book my next holidays to Kota Kinabalu (yes, I am going back to KK again!) using flymas.mobi.
